Buxton Ladies travelled to Matlock on a sunny Saturday morning, still flying from their victory the previous Sunday.

Buxton as usual started strongly working hard to keep the ball in the opposition’s half.

Nicole Roe gave Buxton the lead in the first half after a great passage of linking play from the midfield left her free in the D to drive the ball into the goal.

This pushed Matlock to dig deeper and challenge the defence more resulting in them equalising ten minutes later.

Tight on marking players, Buxton were often frustrated by Matlock’s defence although Lizzie Potts managed to get free long enough to get her first goal for the club on her debut to give Buxton a second goal.

Buxton players were fighting hard for every ball at this point which resulted in Naomi Sessions getting a nasty knock on the hand and Eleanor Shaw limping off with an ankle injury.

At half-time the score was 2-1 to Buxton.

The second half was again full of end to end play with both sides chasing for another goal.

Sadly for Buxton, it was Matlock that secured the goal after a scrappy goal mouth scramble, levelling the score at 2-2.

Using their subs to bring fresh legs to the second half, Buxton continued to fight to the end, constantly challenging the Matlock goalie with Sarah Ingleby making a self-confessed ‘shocking miss of an open goal’ after she made a magnificent run to the back post.

Despite this Buxton were determined to come away with at least a share of the points and dug deep to maintain the draw at the final whistle.
