Long-established fruit and vegetable wholesalers Tom Son (Buxton) Ltd are celebrating their move to new premises by launching a new online ordering system to streamline the service they offer to customers.
The web-based service allows account holders to save time and paperwork and avoid errors by keying in exactly what they require right up to the evening before it is delivered by the family-run company, based at Rockhead Business Park, Staden Lane, Buxton.

"It's very straightforward, and offers a number of advantages for our customers," said financial director Deb Thompson.

"It's easy to access and use, and customers simply key in their requirements without needing to submit a written order, helping them to save valuable time.

"It's also eco-friendly, because it cuts down on paperwork and cuts out mistakes that can happen during the ordering process."

The new system, jointly developed by Buxton-based web designers Zero One and accounts package providers Innov8 of Stockport, is already proving a hit with many of Tom Son's clients, especially hotels.

The company is also keen to develop its range of online services in the future to provide information about seasonal and exotic produce and give customers the opportunity to manage their account via the website.

Managing Director Marc Thompson, his parents, financial director Deb and consultant Malcolm and their 16-strong team recently-moved into purpose-built refrigerated premises with 4,000 square feet of warehouse space, which they hope to double in size to meet increasing demand and create permanent office space.

Tom Son (Buxton) Ltd's online ordering service can be reached at www.tomsonbuxton.co.uk.
