NATHAN Wilson, from Chapel-en-le-Frith, has been awarded the prestigious 'Apprentice of the Year' title by local Training Provider Total People Ltd.
An engineering apprentice at Astra Zeneca in Macclesfield, Nathan won the overall accolade because of his outstanding contributions not only to his employer but also to the local community.

Nathan, who also received £300 in total and a designer watch, was thrilled to win.

He said: "It's a great honour to win this award. The Apprenticeship programme and the training and support I have received have enabled me to be more confident and assured in the way in which I approach my job."

He is totally committed, working in his own time to ensure the continued success of the business.

He is also dedicated to helping others; coaching colleagues to achieve their own awards and playing an active part in Friends for Leisure - a charitable enterprise that supports young children with learning difficulties.

The prestigious awards ceremony was held at Crewe Hall in Cheshire.
