A POLICE Community Support Officer is taking part in a gruelling 150-mile coast-to-coast bike ride.
Julie Shaw, a member of the Chapel-en-le-Frith and Chinley Safer Neighbourhood Team, is to spend four days cycling from Workington to Sunderland, starting on June 23.

The trip aims to raise sponsorship money to enable Chapel-en-le-Frith Parish Council to purchase a solar powered light for the town's Memorial Park.

"Three friends in the Hope Valley approached me and asked if I wanted to go along with them on the ride, and I thought it would be a great way for me to raise money for a much-needed light in the park to benefit the whole community," explained PCSO Shaw.

"Both Chapel-en-le-Frith Parish Council and Derbyshire Constabulary have agreed to contribute to the costs, and they have been very supportive."

Sponsorship forms are available at locations around Chapel-en-le-Frith, including the Royal Oak, The Kings, Chapel Police Station, Chapel Town Hall and Fletchers butchers.
