A FATHER and son from Chapel are to take on an uphill cycle challenge to raise money for charity.
Peter and Adam Thatcher will start on August 11, from St Neots in Cambridgeshire to cycle back home to Chapel, with the 180 mile trip expected to take three days.
They are raising money for the Alzheimer Society. As Peter explained: "We have a couple of members of our close family either who have suffered or are suffering from alzheimers. Its a long term debilitating illness and very cruel."
The pair are in training and are increasing the number of miles they are completing as part of their preparations. "Cambridgeshire is undulating but then when we hit the Peak District we hit hills," said Peter.
"It is a long, long time since I was cycling. It has been a painful process to get fit but it is great. We have got people starting to sponsor us and they have been generous so it makes it all worth while."
Anyone who would like to sponsor the pair can do so at
www.justgiving.com/adamthatcher or by contacting them on 01298 815761.
