Welcome for police changes

THE RESTRUCTURING of Derbyshire Police's divisions in the High Peak has been welcomed by Chapel-en-le-Frith Parish Council.
Inspector Tracy Lewis explained to the council how it would work.
She said: "New Mills and Hayfield down as far as Furness Vale, but not including Furness Vale, will become part of the new north section that will join with Glossop. Whaley Bridge, Buxworth, Chinley and Chapel will form part of the new central section with Buxton.
"What will happen is that half of the central Chapel and New Mills officers will remain here and the other half will move across to Glossop.
"The officers remaining here will mainly be the existing officers. The safer neighbourhood team we have now is not moving anywhere and the other advantage is that the Chapel and New Mills area as it is now gets Ian (Depee) as Acting Sergeant.
"That area after the restructuring will have two safer neighbourhood sergeants. New Mills will have one and Ian will remain here at Chapel.
"I will be based at Buxton purely because that is where the majority of my staff will be. I am really looking forward to it."
Cllr Ann Young said: "It seems to me it is going to be beneficial to us here."
