Drop-in centre boost for young people

YOUNG people have benefited from the refurbishment at Glossop Connexions Centre which has created in a brighter, more spacious centre for them to call in to and get help with a range of careers-related and more personal issues.
The new facilities include more space for people to browse information and easier access to computers to use for career-matching programs, useful websites and the latest local vacancies for young people.
Connexions Derbyshire Team Leader, Lynn Watson said: "Callers into the centre have, without any prompting, commented on how much better the centre looks!
"The changes in layout, furniture and display of resources were all made to make the centre more appealing and welcoming and our support more accessible."
"Our support goes way beyond careers-related advice," added Lynn.
"Thanks to the strong links we have with a number of local support agencies, such as Branching Out, Off The Record, youth offending teams, and Tameside and Glossop Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), young people can also get help with issues related to drugs, alcohol, mental health, and so on, every week, right here in the centre.
"Being able to integrate our services in this way is a real bonus for young people."
