GLOSSOP is set to get a new Police Community Support Officer.
PCSO Jordan Kelly, who was previously in the building trade, has finished the five week training course and joined the Glossop Town Safer Neighbourhood team.
The teams are made up of police officers, PCSOs, councils, housing associations, resident
s and other partners and work together to solve issues faced by the community such as anti-social behaviour and littering.
Community Safety Inspector Tony Dales said: "PCSOs play a very important role in the community.
"They forge links between the police and residents and they tackle issues which affect people's quality of life.
"In addition to patrolling the streets, PCSOs visit schools and community groups, deal with anti-social behaviour and offer crime prevention advice."
PCSOs are uniformed civilian staff who do not have as many powers as police officers but work with officers to gather intelligence and offer public reassurance following minor crimes or anti-social behaviour.
Derbyshire Police are currently recruiting for new PCSOs.
