PAINTINGS and artworks which focus on the beauty of the sea as well as the communities it serves are to go on display at Buxton Museum and Art Gallery.
The Derbyshire County Council-run museum and art gallery will host Collectors and Collections: By The Sea, from Saturday until August 31.

From June 28 until September 7 visitors will also be able to view the Collectors and Collections: Work and Pensions exhibition.

It explores a wide range of trades and professions through artworks and objects – including 17th century trade tokens and a collection of medicine tins and labels from a Glossop pharmacy.

On show until August 28 will be a range of work submitted to the Derbyshire Open 2008 created by both professional and amateur artists of all ages.

Buxton Museum is open to the public free of charge.

For more information please contact Martha Lawrence at the museum on 01298 24658 or email martha.lawrence@derbyshire.gov.uk
