LITTON will be a hive of activity as the village celebrates is annual Well Dressing and Wakes Night.
From Saturday there will be a week of events including well dressings, children's maypole dancing, brass bands, Morris dancers, tea and cakes, and all the fun of the fair.
The big event of the week is the Wakes Night Celebrations on Tuesday Night
with fairground rides, tug of war, barbecue and amusements culminating in the Torchlight Procession through the village.
This year will also see the coronation of a Litton Princess, Olivia Copeland who will open the week by reading the traditional welcome poem at the Blessing of the Wells.
Events
Saturday 21 to Sunday 29 - Well Dressings, an adult well will be on display at the Methodist Chapel, and the children's well will be displayed near the village school. Flower Festival at Litton Methodist Church 11am to 6pm.
Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 - Refreshments in Village Hall from 10am to 4pm. Tea and cakes, bacon butties. Plus cake stall and animal charity stall.
Sunday 22 - Blessing of the Wells, 3pm Blessing service will be conducted outside by the Reverends Frank Yates & Keith Osborne. Crowning of Litton Royalty, 3.30pm display of dancing by Litton School pupils, 4pm Cressbrook Band outdoor concert.
Monday 23 to Wednesday 25 - Maypole Dancing at Litton School, 11am, 1.30pm and 2.30pm. Coach parties very welcome, refreshments available
Tuesday 24 - Wakes Night and Torchlight Procession 7pm Fairground rides, Tug of War, Skittles, Stalls and Amusements Barbecue, Outside bar and refreshments,
Outdoor Brass Band Concert.
Wednesday 25 - Morris Dancing from The Powder Kegs, 8pm at The Red Lion.
