REDUCE, Reuse and Recycle will be the theme for the 19th New Mills One World Festival, taking place this Saturday in High Lea Park, New Mills.
It is the region's premier open-air free festival, promoting the themes of peace, the environment and world and community development.
Music will be provided by White Van Man, featuring Emmerdale's Tony Audenshaw; Shameless, Hayfield-based pop/sou
l band; the Ziggeratz, blues/soul/funk; There's There's (New Mills School band) and High Peak Samba.
Speakers will include representatives from Derbyshire County and High Peak Borough councils on recycling initiatives.
Georgina Ralston and Helen Hensel will talk about the plans to make New Mills 'plastic bag free' and the festival's new cotton reusable bag will be available at a reduced price.
They said: "Together with the fact that New Mills is a Fair Trade town and is the place of the country's first community hydro-electric scheme, the PBF campaign will promote New Mills as a leader in these increasingly important areas."
There will be a wide range of stalls from charities, campaign groups and other not-for-profit organisations.
Children will be well provided for, with an arts stall with face painting and arts and crafts, parachute games and story telling in a 16ft yurt, a Mongolian tent. Community artist Kerry Bertram will be carrying out an arts project using recycled materials.

The workshops cost £5, with all proceeds to the Festival, and are on the 21st June from 11.30 to 1.30pm and from 1.30 to 3.30pm at New Mills Heritage Centre. Limited to over 16s only.
