PLEASE may I, through your pages, say 'thank you' to everyone who supported the campaign to get Thornsett Primary School added to the primary schools' rebuilding list?
There were over 570 signatures on the petition which I organised.
In addition, quite a few people who signed the petition said they were also writing in personally to the Consultation process.

I'd also like to thank those representatives of the School who joined me at County Hall in Matlock to hand in the petition and then ask questions at the Derbyshire County Council Meeting.

Overall, support for the rebuild campaign came from across the New Mills & Hayfield division and from beyond, as today's children, ex-students, parents, grand parents and staff rallied behind the school - showing through their feelings of solidarity just how deserving this school is.

I include the media, both papers and radio, in these thanks because you also gave valuable support.

Let us hope that we will see some building action soon.

Councillor Beth Atkins
New Mills & Hayfield Division
Derbyshire County Council
