THE BUXTON and District Summer Club has been given a boost after receiving a donation.
The £1,000 donation was from Tesco's Community Award and was presented to the club by Karan Green from the Whaley Bridge store.

The club provides activities for 40 disabled children in the Buxton, Chapel and New Mills area. Activities include visits to Whitehall, Monkey Magic and the Rare Breeds Farm as well as sports, crafts and music.

Sue Howard, from Buxton Volunteer Centre, who helps to organise the club, said: "This is a wonderful community project.

"We support up to 40 young volunteers from local schools to gain valuable skills and who give up their time to help, volunteer drivers including the Rotary Club bringing the children into the club, Stockport College has loaned us two buses, Peak and Chapel School have loaned play equipment and Buxton Community School give us the space to hold the club.

"Much of our funding comes from local charities and we cannot thank everyone enough for all their help in supporting the club."
